Abstract
Over the Portuguese Literature history, many literary works have dipicted Nature and the human relation with the land and ist resources – sometimes by using them as scenarios, other times as key subjects of the narratives. The main goal of this article is to go through the literary representation of climate features of three Portuguese geographical spaces, emphasising the Climate factor and its influence upon the human being’s dayly life and activities. In order to that, an ecocritical reading is presented, assessing the works of three Portuguese renowned writers of the XXth century – Ferreira de Castro, Carlos de Oliveira e Antunes da Silva. We selected several realistic shortstories, geographically anchored in Beira Litoral and inland Alentejo to reach
the conclusion that strong winds, extreme hot weather and rainfalls are the Climate phenomena mostly used by those authors to support and enrich their narratives
