Abstract
Abstract: The Bolonha Process assigns new challenges in higher education and in geotechnical courses in particular. The ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme study, implied reducing contact hours. In the undergraduate course on Geological Engineering, the programmes of the disciplines of Soil Mechanics, Earth Movements and Slope Stability and Mechanics of Materials were modified to take into account private study beyond taught classes. Being so, it was used commercial software (student version or easily available) for solving some didactical examples, such asspreadsheet applications with Microsoft EXCEL, SLOPE/W e ANSYS.
