Abstract

Buildings worldwide account for a surprisingly high 40% of global energy consumption, resulting in an ever increasing carbon footprint. Energy efficient technologies represent, nowadays, a sustainable future. Even though technology has become more and more energy efficient, human behavior plays an enormous role in the overall building energyconsumption. Our approach is based on this premiss. Given that, we aimed at extracting the occupant's behavioral pattern into a computer model that could reliably reproduce the user.We proposed a JAVA framework implementation based on agents, rule expert system and Hidden Markov Models to accomplish our goal.
