Abstract
A cartographic representation in GIS was used to extrapolate the geological information in depth from the surface, allowing to identify the litostratigraphy and water productive units in a log of a well for groundwater extraction, located at Costa de Caparica, that crossed the dune sands and the underlying miocene units. The results were analyzed together with the chemical composition of the water from wells to identify two hidrostratigraphic units in the Miocene of the Almada region. A similarity was found between the hydrochemical facies of the upper hydrostratigraphical unit and of the dunes groundwater.
