Abstract

At first, we will try to define a few basic concepts of food culture and conviviality, and then explain the importance of the food code for medical sciences.
In a second moment, we will try to demonstrate how Portuguese gastronomy gains a new orientation, with a Renaissance manuscript that could be considered the first Portuguese cookery book.
