N2 - Residual agroforestry valorization reduces the dependency on nonrenewable resources. It is also a source of cheaper, renewable, and greener raw materials. Apart from being used for energy production, it has the potential to be used as feedstock in various other industries if properly valorized. In this study, the potential biomass residues produced in Portugal are identified. An unstructured literature review was performed to identify potential residual biomass streams produced by agroforestry activities. Building on previous findings, a framework to support the identification of factors that can impact valorization efforts is proposed. The framework can help to frame future research in developing sustainable business models to convert those low-value residues into value-added feedstock and products that can support local communities, businesses, and industries.
