"The (Un)Sustainability of the Sale of Goods in Directive (EU) 2019/771"

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

The topic of sustainability and its connection to the sale of consumer goods has been on the agenda since the adoption of Directive (EU) 2019/771 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2019 on certain aspects concerning contracts for the sale of goods. Although the Directive points towards the promotion of sustainability in the recitals, the solutions provided therein do not seem to be very efficient in this regard. The aim is to analyse the legal regime, pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of the solutions adopted regarding the promotion of sustainable consumption in the European context.
