Abstract

The PRODNET II consortium designed and implemented an open infrastructure to support industrial virtual enterprises with special focus on the needs of small and medium sired enterprises. The proposed architecture is described summarizing ifs main components. The infer-modules communication mechanisms are presented and an illustrative example is given. An approach for hierarchical coordination is proposed and examples of advanced coordination functionalities are described. Finally the creation and configuration steps for a virtual enterprise are discussed.
