Abstract
Manoel de Oliveira conceived and directed the film "O Passado e o Presente" in the early 1970s. Thinking about the film based on the documents in the Manoel de Oliveira Archive reveals the depth and complexity of the filmmaker's reflections on the film's creative process; layers of meaning that time would (un)veil in the contexts of History.
