Published in Oporto, in English, this official book documents what Salazar’s Estado Novo wanted the Portuguese representation to be at this international exhibition at this World Fair, also known as the New York International Exhibition. It opened on 30th April 1939, with the “world of tomorrow” and technology on the agenda; coinciding with Hitler’s troops beginning their invasion of Poland. Portugal in New York World’s Fair 1939 (cover title), puts in evidence the discourse about
the alleged «historical destiny» of Portugal.
