The Interrelationship of Climate Change, Climate Justice But Also Environmental Justice

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingForeword/postscriptpeer-review

Abstract

This Foreword argues that environmental justice is intertwined with climate change and climate justice, and in fact overlaps in many ways on various issues. While climate justice focuses on the specific injustices caused by climate change and the need for fair climate action, environmental justice addresses larger environmental inequities and the unequal distribution of environmental dangers. Thus, climate justice interconnects with environmental justice. Environmental justice is also about trying to correct the injustices and inequalities caused by disproportionate environmental effects that flow to marginalized and vulnerable people. Environmental justice and climate justice are also both about ensuring that the effects of dealing with climate change and the solutions used do not cause more harm and in fact mitigate the effects of climate change.
