The epistolographic discourse in the "Livros dos Ofíciios"

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

'De officiis' that was written between 1433 and 1438 supposedly by the Infante D. Pedro. This translation remains quite faithful to the original, which is why it is a good source of research regarding the translation of Latin texts into Portuguese in the early stages of its development. With this investigation, and in a pragmatic perspective, we have tried to study different linguistic-textual mechanisms of the epistolary gender that are present in the translation, comparing them with their corresponding ones in the original Latin text, so as to verify how they are translated into Portuguese language at a time when it was not yet fully stabilized.
