Abstract

This paper describes the analysis and design of a light barrier system as a multi-subject undergraduate lab project for undergraduated students. This project allows the students to consolidate their knowledge and skills regarding analog signal processing and oscillator design. Since the project has a practical application it is also useful to motivate the students towards enjoying electronic circuit design. The system proposed here is composed of a relaxation oscillator driving a LED in the transmitter and a photo diode followed by a TIA and a bandpass filter in the receiver.
