Abstract

Ferdinand II, king-consort of Portugal, gathered over the second half of the 19th century, at Necessidades Palace, in Lisbon, some archaeological objects in gold and silver of great patrimonial interest. In this article we intend to speak about the acquisition and of some of these objects, today dispersed in national and foreign collections, such as the “Tróia cup” (Museum-Library of Casa de Bragança, Vila Viçosa), the pair of bracelets (Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis, Oporto), the “Braganza brooch” (British Museum, London) or the lost "Penela necklace".
