Abstract
O tema do artigo é a construção, no início do século XVII, da Estalagem Real que antecedeu o Palácio de Vendas Novas, mandado edificar por D. João V (1689-1750) em 1728. O autor do seu projeto foi o arquiteto régio Teodósio de Frias (c.1555-1634) e a obra destinou-se a apoiar as deslocações de personalidades destacadas entre Madrid e Lisboa.
