Abstract
Geological Engineering is a course offered at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University NOVA of Lisbon (FCT-UNL) since 1982, where the teaching of curricular units related to engineering geology has always played a major role. Ever since, its curricula has been submitted to several updates related to the employers demand, recommendations made by the Portuguese universities foundation and the Portuguese engineers association, continuously renewal of the subjects embraced and, more recently, the necessary reform to cope with the Bologna Process implemented by the European Union. This article presents the main curricula changes since its beginnings and their underlying motivations. The justification for the current syllabuses and its forthcoming are outlined.
