Abstract
This paper discusses two main questions. The first one relates to the architectonic evolution of a commercial building from the Imperial phase until the Visigothic one. Throughout these five centuries it has accomplished commercial, artisanal, and residential functions. The second question relates to the stratigraphic, technological, and statistical analysis of the coarse ware (local or regional), with particular stress on a barely investigated (in a stratigraphic base) period of the present-day Portuguese territory - the first half of the 6th century AD. This research line follows previous works undertaken at Mirobriga, by applying dating proposals through the statistical comparison with stratigraphic data from other peninsular areas, as Lisbon and Madrid.
