Switched-Capacitor DC-DC Fundamentals

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter describes the working principle of Switched Capacitors (SCs) DC-DC converters. It includes a detailed analysis of the main components of these types of converters, capacitors and switches, and its implementation in Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) technology. It also describes a step-by-step design methodology, applied as an example to a Series-Parallel (SP) step-down converter with a Conversion Ratio (CR) of 1/2. Lastly, an overview of the loop regulation techniques is briefly described.
