In this paper we discuss the suitability and versatility ofa computer aided approach for identification andautomatic tracking of sunspots with the aim to studysolar evolution of sunspots and contribute to advancesin models for predicting Space Weather and itsinfluence on Earth.Our work crosses the discipline boundaries of AI andSolar Physics by proposing an automatic sunspottracking system based on a combined evolutionarySwarm Intelligence algorithm and Snake model. Anillustrative example of tracking one sunspot evolution ispresented to clarify the potential of the proposedapproach.
