Abstract
This chapter describes recent work performed on friction based technologies for surface modification. These technologies include friction stir processing and friction surfacing. The former is also applied for surface composites manufacturing. A description of the fundamentals, operating principles and most relevant results from the research group of the authors and from other groups is presented and discussed.
