Some Thoughts on Writing a Scientific Application - Joana Simoes reflects on the challenges in writing software for scientists

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

More than an extensive list of tools available for writing scientific applications or a compendium of useful techniques, this article is a reflection about what is involved in writing a scientific application in a non-ideal (and often realistic) situation, based on my personal experience. I repeat: It does not pretend to be a manual on ‘how-to’ write scientific applications, but I hope it may present some of the challenges that developers may encounter in this context, and hopefully will be useful for someone. And before I continue: writing scientific applications is a lot of fun, although often it can become ‘messy’!
