We live in a time of intense social change marked by the impact of technologies and increasing digitalization in all fields of social action. Despite all the progress, discrimination, inequalities, racism, among other social problems, have intensified and acquired new expressions, continuing to limit full inclusion and the realization of social and human rights for the entire population. In this sense, it is essential to know the main challenges facing social justice today. It is a priority to debate the need for changes in state institutions in the public policy sectors of social action, public security and justice, identifying mechanisms and processes that perpetuate discriminatory practices as well as the obstacles faced by the groups that are the targets of these practices. This series of CICS.NOVA webinars on social justice aims to understand and discuss the mechanisms that reproduce these practices, contributing to the definition and implementation of more effective practices, strategies and policies to combat inequalities and all forms of discrimination.

This webinar program is aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals 5, 10 and 16, which aim to achieve gender equality, reduce inequalities and promote the building of more peaceful, just and inclusive institutions and societies.

This initiative is framed by the projects DECONPOL (Deconstructing urban policing), by Annabelle Dias Félix, and Cyber-Delinquency@Child-Justice, by Maria Joao Leote de Carvalho, financed by national funds through FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., under CEEC Individual - 2021.00384.CEECIND/ CP1657/CT0022.
