Abstract
The Ortega y Gasset’s categories of minority and mass, particularly in España invertebrada, are mainly studied in works on the elitist sense of the author's social and political philosophy. In this text, we intend to go beyond the usual analyses and underline the less pointed out formative value of the opposed human models of being excellent and being average. From our point of view, the spanish philosopher's pedagogical concepts are rooted in the important stage of development of his thought during the 20’s of last century, which comprehension enables us to sustain a less common understanding of España invertebrada
