Abstract
In this paper we present the results of the research carried out in
Brazil within the scope of the master’s in social work
(ISMT/Coimbra, Portugal). We analysed (i) the conflicts and
demands placed, during the COVID-19 pandemic, on Guardinha's
services by children and adolescents included in socio-educational
services and (ii) the way in which social work responses to the issues in question may have contributed to strengthen the citizenship of children and their families. In the research, a qualitative methodological approach was chosen. We carried out a literature review to problematize the issues related to the social vulnerability of children and the ways in which, in their daily intervention, social workers can contribute to their inclusion. The methodological procedure to collect the empirical material, we used a semistructured interview to which 6 professionals responded. Results: it was possible to understand that specialized care for contemporary childhood and adolescence (in the municipality of Campinas) is a process in constant transformation/adaptation, capable of identifying
the real needs in presence and enhancing action, the exercise of
citizenship and development of children and adolescents.
