Abstract
A instituição da monarquia constitucional portuguesa trouxe modificações ao papel político do rei, à casa real, à corte e ao principal grupo social tradicional de apoio da monarquia: a aristocracia. Através da análise de vários factores iremos compreender qual o impacto dessas alterações nesses mesmos elementos, nomeadamente durante o Reinado de D. Carlos.
The institution of the portuguese constitutional monarchy brought changes. The political role of the King, the Royal Household, the court society and aristocracy – its traditional main social group of support - suffered some alterations. By analyzing several factors we will understand the impact of these modifications in those elements, especially during King Carlos reign.
