Abstract

This article is focused mainly on the theoretical perspective of Sociodiscursive
Interactionism (Bronckart 1999) and its goal is to demonstrate the relationship between the language used in legal documents and the representations (collective and individual) to which it is linked to. For our analysis some examples of articles were taken from two different legal documents: Portuguese Labour General Law and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development by-laws. The results indicate that the use of conceptual indetermination and terminological imprecision in these documents may confirm on one side the force of collective representations, and on the other the presence of individual representations. According to the analysis we confirm that these linguistic strategies may sacrifice the security of the taxpayer.
