Primeira República (1910-1926), através das ideias (diagnóstico e propostas) de Tomás António da Guarda Cabreira (1865-1918); o seu referencial teórico fundamentador é o da História das Ideias e as obras do autor foram as fontes privilegiadas para uma análise de carácter interdisciplinar. Cabreira mostra uma visão integrada do sector, pragmatismo nas propostas e um posicionamento eclético e tecnicista perante a resolução dos problemas; atribuindo ao Estado um papel mobilizador das forças produtivas, supletivo dos interesses ou claramente intervencionista, conforme as áreas de actuação e a análise da correlação das forças em presença.T
he present study approaches the agrarian question in Portugal within the First Republic (1910-1926), through the ideas (diagnostic and proposals) of Tomás António da Guarda Cabreira (1865-1918); assuming the framework of the History of Ideas as its theoretical referential and using the works of the author as privileged sources towards an interdisciplinary analysis. Tomás Cabreiras’ thought shows an integrated vision of the sector and pragmatism in the presented proposals; attributing to the State a mobilizing role among the productive forces, supplementary of the interests or clearly interventionist, according to the field of action and to the correlation analysis of the powers in presence.
