Abstract
Resumo: A resolução alternativa de litígios de consumo (RALC) levanta problemas jurídicos específicos com grande relevância prática. A aprovação, nos últimos quatro anos, de uma nova lei de arbitragem voluntária, de uma lei da mediação, de uma lei sobre a RALC e de uma lei que impõe a arbitragem aos prestadores de serviços nos contratos relativos a serviços públicos essenciais justifica o aprofundamento e o tratamento científico de algumas questões que se colocam diariamente às entidades de RALC, aos consumidores e às empresas.
Abstract: Consumer Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) raises several legal issues bearing significant practical relevance. In the last few years Portugal has adopted new laws on voluntary arbitration, mediation and CADR and a legal rule which sets forth that arbitration is mandatory for companies providing services of general interest. These circumstances justify a thorough analysis and scientific study of some of the issues that CADR entities, consumers and companies deal with every day.
