Abstract
The windpower market has evolved and grown dramatically around the world. This, combined with the equipment evolution, has created new challenges to structural engineering both for onshore and offshore facilities.
This document brings together the presentations that took place at PrecastWind 2012, a seminar held at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa on 6th July 2012. The PrecastWind 2012 seminar dealt with wind power energy and, more specifically with the design and building of precast towers to support the wind turbines. It was intended to present a state of the art update on this technology.
Among the participants in the PrecastWind 2012 were several national and foreign experts, namely: Daniel Alexander Kuchma from University of Illinois (EUA), Frans J. Brughuis from MECAL BV (Holanda), Roger Becker from PCI – Precast /prestressed Concrete Institute, (EUA), Ana Estanqueiro from Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia e Geologia (Portugal), Carlos Chastre and Válter Lúcio from Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (Portugal).
