Abstract
In the archaeological excavations that we carried out at Ponta do Castelo (Aljezur) and in Silves, we collected ceramic pots, almost complete and fragments of others, which, mainly due to their morphology and also to the decorative themes, allow us to consider them as containers for honey. These have peninsular antecedents that date back to the Second Iron Age, but this category of container, given its functionality, remained, although with variants, namely dimensional, during the Romanization, Middle and Modern Ages. Its use has lasted until almost the present day, as indicated by many ethnographic parallels.
