Abstract
The port city of Ormuz/Hormuz, controlled by the Portuguese since the early years of the sixteenth century, was an important centre of trade in Chinese porcelain, directed at the Iranian markets. Portuguese direct access to the coast of China after 1513 allowed for the growth of the trade in Chinese porcelain.
