Abstract
This text describes the study of fish in the Middle Ages (13th-15th centuries) and at the beginning of the 16th Century in Portugal through both royal and local legal documents and the travel books, Portuguese or strangers’ authors. This study seeks to present the fish, the conflicts generated from fishing and commercial activities. In the second part, it will examine the punishment, control mechanisms and the measures found by the populations to solve them.
