Abstract

Due to its great paleontological wealth, the totality of the miocene cliffs of the western coast of Setúbal Peninsula should be included in the Portuguese Paleontological Heritage, according to scientific, pedagogic and cultural criteria previously defined. The reasons accounting for this inclusion are presented in this work, for some selected localities considered most representative of the whole series.
