Abstract

Due to its great paleontological wealth, especially in what concerns the Miocene fossils, the coastal and riverine cliffs of Almada County should be part of the Portuguese Paleontological Heritage, according to scientific, pedagogic and cultural criteria, among others. Reasons justifying this inclusion are herein presented for some selected localities, considered most representative of the whole series.
