N2 - Multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) techniques usually involve some kind of pre-processing at the transmitter, namely when singular value decomposition (SVD) techniques are employed. However, the precoding operations in general and the ones associated to SVD techniques in particular can substantially increase the envelope fluctuations of the transmitted signal, which leads to an increased sensitivity to transmitter nonlinearities and inherent performance degradation. However, recent research demonstrates that nonlinear distortion can be seen as useful information, provided that an optimum detection is considered. In this work, we present an analytical approach to obtain the asymptotic optimum performance of MIMO-SVD systems with strong nonlinear distortion effects1.
