Abstract
In this final chapter we will present a research prospectus for organizational improvisation. Before turning to the future, however, we will discuss the present, in order to uncover why improvisation now seems to be blooming as a ‘proper’ research topic. To do so, we will briefly contrast a traditional, inherited view on management and organization from where improvisation is almost absent, with an emergent view, where improvisation can be considered as a relevant property of adaptive organizations.
