Occurrence of norA and other multidrug efflux pump determinants across the Staphylococcus genus

Research output: Contribution to conferencePosterpeer-review

Abstract

Multidrug efflux pumps (MDR EPs) play a major role in the emergence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), particularly multidrug resistance phenotypes. NorA is a main native MDR EP in Staphylococcus aureus. Its encoding gene is part of the S. aureus core genome, but less is known about
the occurrence of norA and other MDR EPs across the Staphylococcus genus. This study aims to analyze the presence of norA across staphylococci and identify other putative MDR EP determinants in seven pathogenic staphylococcal species.
