Abstract
Against the idea that one would assist to an ethical-political turn inDerridas thought, with the publishing, after 1990, of various works dedicated to the questions of friendship, justice or democracy, it’s decisive to point out thatdeconstruction has always been, since its first texts, linked to ethics and politics. In this context, the purpose of the present paper is to show how the motive of the différance, of great importance in Derridas first texts, should be articulated with the later developed question of the democracy to come. It will, particularly, focus the problem of the simultaneous unconditionality and impossibility of fulfillment of the democratic ideal, as following necessarily from its own structure and appealing to a constant alert towards democratic activity and the process of its development. It is decisive to understand democracy not as a finished idea or a closed ideological system, but as a process that implies a constant reinvention and redefinition of its own purposes. A process, which should take in consideration the mark of historical heritage that defines it, seeking, simultaneously, to respond to the singular appeal of our time.
