Abstract
The constant survey of documentary sources and the remarkable production of studies on Italian merchants in Lisbon in the 15th and 16th centuries facilitated a broader reflection that allows us to highlight some common traits in the Portuguese path of these foreigners in relation to their interaction with the court and society of the host country.
