Abstract
Observing some contemporary literary texts, we can verify that the typography plays an active role in the textual construction – sense construction and that the texts can acquire a semiotic dimension.
The main goal of this study is an observation and an analysis of a particular element: the white-space while a semiographic mark in two empirical texts of Portuguese contemporary literary. First, we will try to show the origins of the white-
-space. Then, some functions in the textual construction will be analysed. The presence of the “white-space” in determined literary texts demonstrates the necessity to observe and to have in mind the co-presence of the verbal plan and the semiotics plan in the textual analysis.
