Abstract
This article addresses the industrial heritage of Carpinteira brook, located in the city of Covilhã, proposing to address the state of conservation of the archaeological heritage that persists
there, dating from the 17th to the 20th century. Covilhã is located on the slopes of Serra da Estrela, having had two important industrial centers on the banks of the Goldra and Carpinteira brooks. During its industrialization period, it specialized in wool production, mainly between the 15th century and the first
decades of the 20th century, having been designated as the “factory city”, due to its great concentration and specialization
in this type of industry. This made this urban center an important economic center for Portugal. With this in mind, we have prepared the following article in order to expose the changes that have taken place in this area of the city, due to the great urban transformations that are taking place in Covilhã, which
have involved the destruction or transformation of the industrial heritage.
