Abstract

The isolation and characterization of poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) and 2-O-α-D-galactopyranosylglycerol (floridoside) from the red alga Plocamium cartilagineum are described. This is the first reported occurrence of PHB in a macroalga.
