Abstract
A parallel study on the unknown reception of Michel de Montaigne's "Essais" by Daniel Davelourt, an oficier of the Royal French Army under Henri IV and on the reading by René Descartes of the treatise "Recreations mathematiques" . Both approaches lay within the framework of the Montaigne-Descartes direct reception issue.
