Abstract

Communities are experiencing difficulties triggered by a crisis that has been creeping for some time and pushing organisations to search for alternative solutions to remain competitive. Cooperation and collaboration is becoming increasingly common as the solution to the pressure created by the global markets. However, due to the diversity of cultures and to the high dynamicity of businesses, establishing communications between systems is difficult and sometimes impossible. Consequently, there is a growing interest in e-business solutions able to facilitate the sharing of information between manufacturing systems. To this, the authors propose a framework to support interoperability using morphisms and knowledge mediation, and to provide its sustainability through a multi-agent environment.
