Abstract

Microporous polymers are a new class of organic polymeric materials with pore sizes below 2 nm and consequently high surface areas. This chapter provides a brief overview of microporous polymers, with particular attention paid to the materials suitable for membrane preparation and those with catalytic properties. The possibility of using microporous polymer membranes in membrane reactors, such as forced-flow reactors and pervaporation units, is discussed.
