Abstract
O estudo apresentado parte da análise da planta da vila de Setúbal de 1793, do en- genheiro militar Diogo Correia da Mota, e tem por objectivo identificar e dar a co- nhecer o património edificado aí representado. As informações subtraídas deste ins- trumento cartográfico cruzadas com notícias resgatadas do fundo manuscrito de Al- meida Carvalho, não só nos permitem fazer uma nova leitura desta planta, como possibilitam um conhecimento mais alargado da malha urbana da zona ribeirinha de Setúbal.
The study presented starts from the analysis of the plant of of Setúbal of 1793, of the military engineer Diogo Correia da Mota, and aims to identify and disseminate the built heritage represented there. The information subtracted from this cartographic instrument crossed with news from Almeida Carvalho's manuscript fund, not only allows us to make a new reading of this plan, but also enables a broader knowledge of the riverside area of Setúbal.
