Abstract
Achieving a more sustainable future has become a central goal of many communities worldwide. The idea of energy communities (EC), as a tool in fight of climate change consequences, has grown rapidly in the energy sector. It is, however, necessary to identify and understand EC potential. One of the current trends in EC developments is the digitalization of energy systems bringing various innovative technological solutions to the forefront. In theory, these technologies can help deliver energy communities and their associated benefits. In this article we perform literature review to comprehend the adoption of innovative tools being under development of COMMUNITAS project which aims to bring consumers closer to energy market and enhance energy citizenship. We identify four main areas: technology adoption; well-being and satisfaction; participation in community projects; spillover effects on sustainable behavior. As part of a larger study, these areas were proposed as target variables for further development of the conceptual model to understand consumer behavior in EC.
