Abstract

The following article was based on my Research Project developed on the
Master's Degree in Music Education at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas of Castelo Branco. This research project was entitled "Initiation to the Alto Trombone", where the main objective was the creation of a manual, in portuguese, that gathered all the information about this topic. This way, it was attempted to understand the student’s needs, the differences between alto and
tenor trombone, as well as the best way to solve these adversities. The methodology used in the investigation was the descriptive research, based on collecting the existing information on the literature. In order to complete that information, it was realized a questionnaire destined to renown teachers in the area in question. Subsequently, the Trombone Alto Initiation Manual was created, and then validated through a validation grid sent to teachers in the area in question.
