Abstract
The trans-cis isomerization of diaquobis(oxalato)chromate(III)ion in aqueous solution, catalyzed by perchloric acid, is reported. The rate of the trans-cis isomerization was followed by spectrophotometry, showing a first-order reaction with respect to the chromate(III) ion. The rate was determined at different temperatures and enabled the calculation of the activation energy and both enthalpy and entropy of activation according to Transition State Theory.
