Abstract
This text aims at presenting the book True method of studying (1746) by Luís António Verney. True method of studying is a controversial work, where the author
criticizes the scholastic tradition and the most relevant Portuguese writhers, as Camões and Vieira. Among the innovating aspects of True method of studying, one stresses the assumption of the Modern thought, the defense of a pedagogy based on the affectivity and of the teaching for women.
